About Me

You may know me as Susan Blake. I am using Suzy Blake for my books because there are just too many Susan Blake's out there, plus I feel Suzy is more “me”.

My background in writing started early in life as I was always writing. I have 40 years worth of adult journals, not to mention a memory that astounds even myself at times. Books are pouring out of me now so stay tuned! My writing is as varied as my art work. I don't write the same type of book over and over, nor do I paint with the same elements or subject matter. You just never know what is next. I like that! It's exciting. It also makes it hard to label. It's a blessing and a curse.

The curse side is the marketing aspect. So far I've written a sci-fi fantasy, a memoir, and a book on brainstorming for writing ideas based on a class I taught for kids, grades 4-8. This class was so successful the school board asked me to teach the teachers. This book IS the class and can be used by students, teachers and home schooling parents. Any adult can use this material as well. Learning to create your OWN writing prompts advances confidence and enlarges the capacity to be an excellent listener.

I spent many years studying nutrition, herbs and essential oils. I'm a certified Nutritionist, and Master Herbalist. I have counseled many with food choices and herbs to maximize their health.

I was a closet artist for decades, collecting pictures from magazines and calendars that I wanted to paint “someday”. That someday happened at age 50! Since then I have sold my art, first at art shows and now out of my home. I will feature some of my painting on this site along with my books. If you're interested, send me an email. I accept commissioned work as well, so if you want something bigger, different colors or whatever, please inquire.

I “retired” to Florida in 2014, but writers and artists never really retire. This is the time where creativity can pour out and it's pouring.

I am a confessed journal writing “junkie”, a former newspaper columnist. I live in Florida with my dog Zippy.
